Playing

I play basses – electric, upright and, of late, the sousaphone too. Here are the kinds of things I’ve been up to.

I’ve played in the Neil Cowley Trio since 2010 with two of my favourite people in the world. Here’s a couple of our films.

We’re live at the U10s cricket training here.

Graham Trott made this film. He’s awesome.

I just love singing so I particularly enjoy playing with my friends in Jawbone.

Jawbone playing live in the studio in 2020.
This is another Graham Trott epic. He’s the best.

Martin Harley is a fabulous guitarist. Here he is on the dobro with Harry Harding and me.

In Martin’s back yard.
A more standard set up with Martin and Harry. Filmed at the Union Chapel in London.

I made two records with my good friend Ben Watt. This is from the second one Storm Damage. Keen viewers will recognise the drummer Evan Jenkins from this and quite a few films here. Ev and I have played together since 1993. I adore playing with Ben.

I played with the beautiful humans in Mamas Gun from 2007 – 2012. Here we are with another beautiful human, Beverly Knight.

This is live at what is now known as 5dB in West London (it was called Kensal Town when we recorded there).

I was delighted to play on Once I Was an Eagle for Laura Marling. I’m on double bass through this suite of songs – it’s a beautiful film too.

Here’s one from the vaults – Ed Sheeran, me and not much else.

Below is a selected playlist of records that I’ve featured on.
